Internship
Nepal provides an exciting opportunity to those journalism students
who are interested in exploring
Nepal's great culture, beauty, people and media, working as a
journalist. We provide the opportunity to work with Nepal's leading
national newspapers and magazines.
When to apply:
Throughout the year
You can apply all seasons. Applications for internships are accepted
for summer, fall, spring and winter.
Media types:
1.Publications:
Daily, weekly, bi-weekly and monthly publications. The names of the
newspapers and magazines are mentioned in this page.
2. TV Stations:
Nepal Television,
Kantipur Television, Channel Nepal, Image Channel.
Position:
Reporting, Editing, Photography. You can go into the field as an
assignment reporter, to cover the stories or photo stories around
the country. You can spend time working the news desk. Or you can
serve as an assistant editor.
Salary:
Unpaid
You will not receive payment for your photos. The
publication reserves the right to use your photos during the course
of your program. You retain all rights to your photos following the
completion of your program.
Work Week:
Sun-Friday
Working Hours:
You will work 5-7 hour days, depending on publication type and
assignment. Hours may vary per assignment. (Intern can work as part
time or full time as their interest.)
Vacancy:
Positions are most always available.
Equipment for photography inters:
The publications do not have gear for interns at this time, nor does
Internship Nepal. All of our professionals prefer to have personal
equipment and we have found that our interns have different taste
and experience with photo equipment. Many interns bring laptops in
addition to their equipment, but you are not required to bring
anything but your own preferred photo gear. By taking the necessary
precautions of any trip, you can feel safe in bringing your
equipment to Nepal.
Rights to photo:
You retain all rights to your own photographs. Publications reserve
the right to use your photos in your assigned publication, however
the images will be otherwise used through your permission only.
Photo assignment:
You will be working with one of the photo journalists employed by
the publication and as a photo journalism intern your assignments
will be photo stories.

Internship Nepal offers flexible internship programs because the
interests
and needs of our students require the program to be so. We offer
both
full-time and part-time opportunities . Students are encouraged to
arrive by
the first of the month to start, but we can make alternate
arrangements with
the publication if it is in the best interest of the student.
Students may
choose the duration of their internship on a monthly basis, with a
one month
minimum commitment. Internships may start throughout the year on a
monthly
basis.

The position is unpaid. Should the students' University be willing
to offer
credit for the position, we can discuss the criteria necessary with
the
student's academic department. Internship Nepal is not currently
affiliated
with a college credit program.

You will get regular assignments. You will get a press pass from the
publication before your assignments start.
You will work with the Chief Photo Editor directly and you can meet
with him whenever you want. You may schedule a meeting with the
Chief Newspaper Editor during the program if you wish.
