Internship Nepal celebrates its 5th anniversary with a renewed commitment
We now have become very mature and experienced in the area of volunteer/social work. During this period, we also learnt and understood about a lot of things, and as far as possible, we tried our best to provide quality service to our interns/volunteers and created varied opportunities for them as per their expectations.
From January 25, 2010, we entered into 5th year of our operation. While working in this sector with our heart and soul, we hardly knew how these four years went by. But again, four years is not a long period. However, our constant devotion and hardwork has made us a leading organization in the field of volunteer work and internship in journalism, photo-journalism and human rights sector. But more importantly, our partner organizations including our students, interns and volunteers from various parts of the world have equally contributed to take this organization to a place where it finds itself at present.
It is with pride that we would like to inform that some universities in U.S.A, Canada, Denmark and Germany have even encouraged their students to opt for internship programmes we offer and we are grateful to them for thinking us capable enough. On this occasion, we would like to express our heartfelf commitment to continually improve and upgrade our services in the coming days as per the demands of the time. Similarly, we also expect valuable suggestion and advice from our well-wishers from various sectors.
To err is human and it is natural that there might have been some shortcomings from our part. But on this occasion, we want to promise to continually make improvements in our services and cut down any shortcomings that might have occurred in the past.
That we are doing an exemplary work in this field is also clear from the fact that Nepal Weekly, a prestigious weekly magazine of the country, had in its recent edition featured us.
On the occasion of InternshipNepal entering 5th year of operation, we would like to express heartfelt gratitude to all our former interns, supporters and well-wishers and also express willingness to work with a renewed commitment in the coming days.
Thankyou!
Internship Nepal featured in prestigious Nepali weekly magazine
Nepal Weekly, a leading vernacular magazine of Nepal, wrote a feature-length story about the programmes and services we are offering and our other activities. In the one-page long article, our interns were interviewed and they happily shared their experiences. Similarly, the experiences of the host families where the interns/volunteers stay during their internship period was also highlighted in the article including a brief interview of the organization’s chairman Naradev Pandey. In the interview, chairman Pandey says, “This organization which was started with the sole purpose of service is also engaged in a novel endeavor of making Nepal known all over the world through our interns and volunteers.”
“The students who finished or are currently doing internship in Nepal have learnt a lot from the Nepali society. For instance, Nepali people’s ever smiling nature even in the face of hardship, the respect, love and hospitality we share with guests and visitors and our simple and charming nature. The interns were all found to be quite satisfied with the Internship Nepal,” reads the report on InternshipNepal.
InternshipNepal organizes sports programme, visits to Ktm’s historical places for interns/volunteers
On the occasion of its fifth anniversary, Internship Nepal organized various programmes in the month of January and February. We organized various indoor sports including football game and our interns/volunteers actively participated in them. Likewise, we also organized a group visit to various historical places in Kathmandu. We feel that these kinds of programmes help interns to gain true knowledge about Nepal, incite a feeling of closeness and understanding about Nepal and give them opportunity to learn about the lifestyle and culture of Nepali people. This is why, we have decided to organize these kind of programmes on a fortnightly basis. Hopefully, our foreign interns/volunteers get the opportunity to learn and understand various things about Nepal and assimilate them through this initiative of ours.
Apart from this, we will also be holding meetings and interactions with leading personalities and intellectuals of various sectors in Nepal. We hope that this will help our interns to understand various issues of Nepal in a better way.

Holi Celebrations in Kathmandu
It’s the time of the year for some colours, water and fun again! Though Holi came amid acute water shortage this year, the volunteers of Internship Nepal had a pretty good time throwing water bags and hurling colour powder on each other.
Holi in the Pandey’s house started with Seila Didi giving each of the volunteers, as well as other members of the family, a tika as blessing. The war started with the excited Nasib attacking Henry (photojournalist intern from UK). Maria (intern from Canada) and Yingchan (photojournalist intern from Singapore) then joined in the fun. Although it was a messy affair, everyone enjoyed it and it was indeed a memorable afternoon.

The Nepali home offers a form of a sanctuary from the crazy life of the streets and work. It is a place to relax, share ideas and stories, solve a problem you may have, do some self reflecting and grow as a person. For Virginie, (human rights intern, center) this is her last day in Nepal. Seth and Kenneth take the day from work to discuss past enjoyments, future plans and to see her off on her way home.
